I am moving everything over to acwarneke.com so I don’t think I will be updating this page very often and if you come here type the new address into the search bar to get to the correct site.

I am kind of an idiot – I haven’t posted yet that I am also doing a Stone Lover hard copy giveaway on goodreads. I have posted it elsewhere and somewhere in my mind I must have assumed I posted it here as well. How weird is that? I am pleased to say that it was a temporary brain malfunction that has hopefully been fixed. Until the next time it happens! So, the contest runs until April 21 and five copies will be given away.
Also, the Blight giveaway is also going on until April 21st.
So, hubby was home for two weeks on his R+R and I must say, two weeks is NOT enough time. It takes that long just to get used to having him back – and then he is gone and I have to wait five to six months before he returns home. Hopefully it will be a while before his next deployment – and hopefully his next deployment won’t be a year long one. I fall into a funk when he goes but I do not envy him; we just go about our lives, counting down the days until he gets to come home. Unfortunately, time has made a habit of flying way too fast, and while that means he will return to us sooner, it means time is flying way too fast and that is a difficult thing to deal with. We have the rest of spring and all of summer to enjoy and I don’t want to rush it….
It has been an insanely busy week – but enjoyable. The family left on Sunday and then we packed up the car and drove down to Myrtle Beach for a few days of rest and relaxation; well, as restful and relaxing as a hotel with a water park on the ocean can be. The trip was almost perfect except the hubby had to have an emergency root canal on Monday – he felt a million times better afterwards and we were able to enjoy the rest of the day. The kids enjoyed spending some time on the beach even though the water was frigid and Alaina’s legs turned to icicles. The boys dealt with the cold for a little while longer. It was a good trip, even with a root canal. I got some work done on three books but I couldn’t get very far because I didn’t have my computer with – I hope to have something done soon-ish but I have no concrete dates. After the hubby goes back to the sandbox I will be able to get back into a schedule of sorts and keep working.
Today was my daughter’s 10th birthday and it has been a great day. My family came down on Thursday and we have been having a wonderful visit and we also got to celebrate my dad’s birthday yesterday. The best surprise was the fact that my sister and nephew showed up unexpectedly and I have gotten to talk to her face to face instead of on the phone. I wish we lived closer – preferably somewhere warm; my Minnesotan blood has grown thin from living in North Carolina. Also of great excitement is having the hubby home for R+R during this time. Two handfuls is an important birthday.
Ten years ago I went to my doctor’s appointment and he said that I would probably be late, and since I wasn’t due for another week, I went home thinking there was plenty of time to finalize labor plans. No. My daughter decided that she was ready to come out that night. So I went into labor on my dad’s birthday but, again, my daughter decided she wanted her own birthday so she held off. And ten years later she is still the princess and I have absolutely loved every single moment of it! It was a Tangled birthday, with many Rapunzel presents, her favorite Disney princess. We even watched the movie, since it was Rapunzel’s birthday, too. 🙂
It has been a phenomenal weekend. And I have gotten absolutely no work done on any of the many stories I want to write.
I need to learn to be happy with nearly perfect because when I try to get to perfect it invariably goes awry, at least when it comes to the cover of the hard copies of my books. I am working through createspace and I am working blind – it would help if I found a template and worked off of that but that would make too much sense. Instead, I go slap dash and try for perfect and get… slap dash. I’m a trial and error girl. 🙂 Luckily I have time before the books need to be ready since they are already available on kindle. And I have learned SO much since Darkness Comes came out just over a month ago. Crazy. But in a good way. It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks, with visitors and hubby at home on leave. It’ll get done – but i am sure the good people at createspace are getting sick of me….
over 1600 copies of Stone Lover were given away this weekend and the feedback has been very positive! It’s exciting and I almost feel like a real writer. Well, that’s not quite true – I have always loved to write and tell stories; now I get to share them with the world and it is exciting. Now I get to choose which book to write next when I want to write all of them.
Wow; more stone lovers have been given away in a day and a half than Blight in 3 days AND Darkness Comes in 5 days. Wow. I’m speechless; stunned. Amazon makes it WAY too easy to track sales and a person can get obsessed (what are you looking at? ahem – raises hand) tracking their sale moment to moment. Last night I was exhausted and still stayed up to see how many times I could click the sales button and watch the numbers go up. It was fun – I would click it and a few minutes later click it again and 3-4 more books have been “bought.” For an hour I sat there doing this, giggling each time the numbers went up. Giggling is not conducive for sleep. I hope that of those who downloaded it, there will be plenty who read it and love it. Blight, which is free today, is slowly -SLOWLY- trickling up in sales. Stone Lover is at #8 in fantasy romance; darkness comes made it to #13 briefly so I’m pretty psyched. We’ll see how it goes. Plus, there is still a day and a half left of this free promotion – with an additional two days that I can do later.
Yesterday was not a good day; I was sick and hoping the hubby wouldn’t be calling to say he was home. He didn’t so I got to stay perfectly immobile in bed while the kids ran the mad house. He called this morning and we got to pick him up at 1:45 p.m. and he gets to stay with us for two weeks before heading back to theater until late summer, early fall. It is good to have him home – even the dog was VERY excited to see him even though he has been gone for several months; I am just pleased she remembered him. I am hoping that he will be able to get some rest and relaxation in, even with everything we have planned. 🙂
Also, Stone Lover is free for the kindle this weekend and Blight is free on the 17th. Stone Lover is at #13 in free fantasy romance and is doing better in 13 hours than Blight did in two days.
